Description
Health literacy is the degree to which a person can understand, process, and act on health information. This module will discuss strategies for building health literacy and self-management skills in patients with chronic conditions, such as providing social and emotional support, a behavioral approach, and an instructional strategy for a health care professional.

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

1. Define health literacy
2. Identify how to build and support health literacy skills
3. Describe how to promote health literacy as a health care professional
4. Define education approaches and theories in health literacy
