Professional Certification Description
The Certified Professional by the American Heart Association – Digital Health in Cardiac Care (CPAHA) is available to health care professionals committed to helping their patients live longer, healthier lives.
You are eligible to take the exam if you are a healthcare professional (licensed or pursuing licensure)and/or a health & wellness professional with diverse experience in health and wellness, and a mix of professionals at different career stages to capture the full scope of the role (entry-level, mid-career, advanced).
It is preferred if you provide direct patient care and/or work with individuals helping them manage chronic conditions. This includes and is not limited to: physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants, occupational therapists, physical therapists, occupational therapist assistants, physical therapist assistants, registered dietitians, rehabilitation specialists, speech therapists, exercise physiologists, athletic trainers, social workers, mental health professionals, fitness specialists, health coaches, care coordinators, and other healthcare professionals.
The certification exam will consist of 225 questions and will be delivered by Meazure Learning via live remote proctor. Candidates will have 4 hours to complete the exam. After completion of required prerequisites and purchase the product, candidates will receive notification within 3 business days via email from Meazure Learning with details on how to schedule the exam when ready. Upon passing the exam, the American Heart Association will award the professional with CPAHA certification and credentials for individual recognition in accordance with provided branding guidelines. Scores will not be available until 8-12 weeks from examination.
To retain the certification past the three-year award period, the professional must complete certification maintenance criteria with continuing education credits and fees. If the certification is not maintained, it is no longer active for professional use and display.
