Description
This course is designed to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary for conducting effective telestroke assessments. Learners will learn key considerations when performing the NIH Stroke Scale during telestroke visits and apply this knowledge to real-life scenarios. The course will demonstrate a telestroke visit from start to finish, offering a comprehensive understanding of the telestroke assessment process. Additionally, learners will explore alternative assessment tools suitable for telestroke evaluations.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

1. Identify needs and roles during a telestroke consult
2. Identify key considerations when performing the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) during a telestroke visit
3. Discuss other assessment tools for telestroke

Continuing Education Accreditation – Emergency Medical Services
This continuing education activity is approved by the American Heart Association, an organization accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), for 0.50 Advanced CEHs, activity number 24-AMHA-F3-0007.

By claiming CAPCE credit, the claimant acknowledges the following: I understand that the American Heart Association as a requirement of CAPCE accreditation will submit a record of my course completions to the CAPCE AMS. I further understand that my course completion records may be accessed by or shared with such regulators as state EMS offices, training officers, and NREMT on a password-protected, need-to-know basis.
