Description

The purpose of this module is to describe the introduction to mechanical circulatory support, general concepts of patient selection, and types of percutaneous mechanical circulatory support.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion, participants should be able to:

1. Describe the role of hemodynamic support in patients with cardiac arrest
2. Describe the key patient and arrest characteristics used to select patients for hemodynamic support in the setting of cardiac arrest
3. Describe the hemodynamic support devices available to support patients with cardiac arrest
4. Describe the process of removing hemodynamic support
5. Describe the key quality metrics and registries available for cardiac arrest patients
